Adventures in Saving a Buck

Yesterday I had my first eye checkup in 3 years. Yes my 2 boxes of contacts lasted me that long. I confessed my contact sins to the eye Dr. and she said my eyes must be tougher than the average person. There were no eye issues, so she said I'm fine with my current wear. She also said my eyes have gotten BETTER since my last appointment. That was a shocker since I have horrific vision and it always seems to be declining.

Our insurance has changed so I got as many contacts as my insurance would allow, but they only cover glasses OR contacts and I needed both.

I headed to ZenniOptical.com to order a pair of glasses online. This should be interesting.  These are what I ended up getting.  I upgraded to polycarbonate lenses ($10) because when I get the basic lenses they are super thick. I also upgraded to anti-reflective ($5)  The polycarbonate get the same strength with less weight.

Total with the upgrades and shipping was $31.  We'll see how it goes.

I only wear glasses late at night and for  few hours in the morning before I shower so I figured even if they are terrible they are better than my Harry Potter Glasses from high school.

Does anyone else have any tips for saving on eye gear?
