Cheese Stuffed Turkey Burger Recipe

I have mentioned this recipe several times on my menu since starting Take Shape for Life.  It is one of our household favorites, even Addy will eat it (she is not a big fan of meat in general).  I received it in an email document from my health coach, but do not know where it originally came from, but if you do, feel free to credit them in the comments :)

Cheese Stuffed Turkey Burger
Makes 1 serving containing 1 lean, three condiments and 1/2 healthy fat

Ingredients:
8oz raw 95%-96% fat free ground turkey
2 tsp A1 Steak Sauce
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1 Light Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge, any flavor

Directions:
Combine turkey meat, A1 sauce, and garlic salt together until combined.
Separate meat into proper sized portions (we buy our turkey meat at costco and one container usually gets three full portions and enough left for a little Addy size patty)
Create a pocket for the cheese wedge and wrap meat around it.
You can grill, broil, or cook in skillet, until the internal temp reaches 165 degrees.  Lately we've been broiling.

Here is the meat in all three phases (ignore the top left, it is Addy's mini burger)
I have used several kinds of cheese and all are wonderful.  The blue cheese and this queso fresco & chipotle are probably my favorite.
Delicious finished burger!

If you are doing TSFL you need an additional 1/2 a healthy fat and three servings of vegetables.  I usually have 2 cups of romaine, 1/2 cup of tomato, and 1 Tbl of Light Ranch dressing.  YUM.

Jon always adds a bun to his, cause he can eat whatever the heck he wants (not bitter).  But if you are just in a maintenance mode you could probably pair with a whole wheat sandwich thin bun!

Happy eating!
