Chocolate Scotcharoos

I just had to share this recipe with you because it is a stand by "take camping" recipe.  I made it at home before we left and we snacked on them all week and they are delicious for your sweet tooth!

Chocolate Scotcharoos

Ingredients
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups rice krispies
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips

Try not to think about all the sugar and focus on the protein in the peanut butter!

1. Combine the sugar and corny syrup in a glass bowl and microwave for 2 minutes, stir, then another two minutes (until it begins to boil basically).


2. Stir peanut butter into sugar mixture until well combined.

3. Pour sugar/peanut butter mixture over rice krispies.

4. Mix and press into 8x13 greased pan.

5. Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips in the microwave stirring every 30 seconds until melted (do not over cook, this should take 3 minutes maximum).

6. Spread chocolate mixture over top of cereal.

7. Chill 15 minutes until chocolate is firm.
