After browsing pinterest I put together two idea that I loved and have the gallery I always wanted! I can almost call my idea original since it was taken from two ideas and morphed to fit my taste!
I am amazed at my lack of creativity at times. All my good ideas are definitely from somewhere or someone else!
We started by figuring out how big we wanted the gallery to be and then painted a square that size on the wall in a contrasting color. No need to be tedious about your line because they will be covered up!
Now at this point is when the project that should have taken an hour became a four day project. For some reason still unknown, the paint began to bubble in some place. Upon "popping" the bubbles we realized that the bubble peeled off all paint, texture, and underneath was exposed dry wall. So we had to take a break and retexture, prime, and paint those spot again. Ugh. Even my painting friends have no idea what happened there.
One the paint dried my husband got out the power tools and made the frame for my gallery! He cut the leftover baseboard pieces we had to make the frame and nailed it up!
Here is the framing completed.
Now I had purchased some frames and ikea, some fabric and wooden plaques at hobby lobby, and created some accents to go with the frames. I arranged everything on the floor first making sure I had things the way I wanted them because I didn't want to have to make multiple holes in my wall.
I am planning on mod podging a photo onto the two yellow plaques but I still have not settled on what I want there. They have to be fairly "timeless" since I won't be able to switch them out.
The big C was something we already had on hand. If you remember, I used it on a Christmas wreath train wreck last year. We mounted it on a fabric covered piece of wood to give it a bit more pizzazz and spray painted it yellow with the plaques.
I love how it turned out! Simple and classy!

That turned out really cute!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the large frame. Great job!
ReplyDeletePS - I've discovered that borrowing ideas from others (blogs/Pinterest) when it comes to decorating is the best way to do it. I could never come up with some of the great ideas I find out there.
