Sunday Snippet

Well I finally made it back to the gym this week after 3 months.  Yikes.  I'm not sure why it's so hard to get going again, especially when the positive effects of exercise for me are SO obvious.  Any day I go the the gym I am in such a great mood, and I have way more energy.  I am starting by doing the Couch to 5k program just as somthing to  guide me.  This week I walked an addition 20 minutes after I completed the program.

Spent more time going through my "yard sale" pile to see if there was anything I could sell online.  I listed about 15 items last night at 5pm and have sold about 10 of them already.  Makes getting rid of stuff all the more exciting!!

Addy tasted homemade curry chicken this week and LOVED it!  Doesn't suprise me one bit!  The bedtime change we implemented a few weeks ago has led to waking times between 6:30 and 7 am! I am loving it!

Helped some friends set up parts of their nursery yesterday!  So much fun and brought back those feelings of excitement of expecting our sweet Addy.

I finished my books this week!!Here is a little synopsis of my thoughts!

Book #1: Money, Possessions, and Eternity:
Two quotes/ideas I have really been processing this week from this book:

"Too often we assume that God has increased our income to increase our standard of living, when his stated purpose is to increase our standard of giving. (refer to 2 Corinthians 8:14 and 9:11)"  - Wow!  Definately something to chew on for us! Many times when we recieve some extra income we often try and determine what we want to buy next.  We are praying a lot about how God might want us to reframe our thinking.

Another quote that really stuck out to me was a story about a Pastor who was given a raise and the Pastor went to his board and said "This is much more than I need to live on." The Elders responded, "Yes, we know.  We want to see what you do with it."  - As a Pastor's wife this really caused me to think about if we are honoring God in this area and thinking about how our standard of living and giving is an example to those around us.

The thing that really encouraged me about this book is that it does NOT say it's bad to own a home, or have things!  But it does cause us to ask more questions about what we do own, what we purchase, and how we spend our time and money - and most importantly how much we are giving to Eternal things rather than temporary things.

Book #2: The Hunger Games
I'm not going to explain anything because since it is fiction I don't want to spoil it for anyone.  I do want to say though that through the entire book I kept asking myself - "Why am I still reading this?"  Not because it's bad - but because it's quite strange - yet SOOOO intriguing.  I need to get a copy of the 2nd book in the series!!

Next week is BUSY! We are heading to a youth retreat next Friday and I am preparing the meals so I have lots of prep to do which will occupy most of my free time, but I can't wait!!
