Happy Valentines Day

We decided to begin a tradition of a family Valentine breakfast!!

It of course started with an great cup of coffee in my favorite mug:
This is the only mug in our house that is not a Starbucks "city" mug

I also set the table with a valentines table cloth I purchased on clearance last year.

I then tried out the Red Velvet Pancake Recipe that I had on the menu this week.  We were going to make it for dinner tonight, but decided to have somewhat of a date by ordering in Thai Taste and renting a movie, so the pancakes got moved to breakfast.  They were DELICIOUS, I liked them more than the Red Velvet Cake I attempted to make in December (although I had somewhat of a disaster with that project).  Now, chocolate pancakes are probably not the most healthy breakfast - but for one day a year we figured we could handle it.   Addy even had 1/2 of one and had her first chocolate experience.

She loved it of course - how could you not??

This was my measly attempt at a heart shaped pancake

Jon made some sausage and fresh squeezed orange juice to go with these lovelies.  I guess you could say we got our sugar fix for breakfast, and Addy had her first sugar fix of her lifetime.

Jon then proceeded to dress Addy for the day

Happy Valentine's Day! What are your fun plans/traditions?

  1. Fun!! We are going to start a tradition of making it a family date night. Matt and I are going to go on a date just the two of us on another night since it's SO busy in Minneapolis on v-day, and on Valentines we are going to have breakfast for dinner. (We must think alike!) Red pancakes in the shape of hearts, steak, eggs and bacon with fresh orange juice. We will then open valentines to each other and after the girls go to bed, Matt and I will relax with a movie or book. :) Happy Valentines day, Cassie and family!

  2. Nothing big for us this Valentine's Day, but we did do the red velvet pancakes for dinner. Dee-lish! Justin made stuffed french toast for breakfast, but Kendry didn't want to eat anything - so I ate his. :) Justin and I just did cards and are planning an upcoming date night as our gift to each other. Simple and (very) sweet.
