Upon doing some planning for Addy's 1st birthday, I decided that I wanted to attempt to make a dress for her to wear on that day. Am I crazy??? There are so many cute ideas out there that some of my friends have pinned, but I'm definitely questioning my ability to pull something like this off. We are keeping her party pretty simple, since it is all adults, so I thought my grand gesture could be a dress. I'm going in realistically thinking that she may not actually be wearing this dress on her birthday, so I'm not disappointed if it doesn't work out. Here are some of the fun designs I've found on Pinterest.
Dress #1:
This one looks adorable, but the sleeves scare me. No zippers in it though!!
Dress #2: This one has no sleeves but it does have an invisible zipper in the back. And we all know how I do with zippers.
Dress #3: Another one which is knit fabric. No zippers or buttons.
So which one do you think I should do??? Let me know!
Which dress should I attempt to make for Addy\\\'s Birthday
Thanks to my friend Marie - I got all these ideas of her
pinboard!
Hello, I just wanted to pop in my two cents. Hidden zippers are the worst! My mom, who is an expert seamstress and has done everything from making clothes to recovering furniture detests them. I hate them too, but since I don't have as much experience, I thought I would cite her instead! Love your blog. You will do great with the dress! Clothes are easier than accessories by far. :D
ReplyDeletenooooooo knit ! ...... & #2 L@@KS too grown up .... don't know how to post mom
ReplyDeleteGo for it! I know you can make one of these dresses. :) I voted for #2 - very cute! Also, if you don't think she'll be wearing it on her birthday, maybe sew her a cute number t-shirt to wear for the messy cake portion of the party. I usually buy a basic tee in a solid color at Walmart and then a 1/4 yard of super cute fabric. Cut out the number, use fray check on the edges and some fusible webbing behind your number, and then stitch around the edges and you're done. I plan to keep these t-shirts in the hope of making them into a quilt someday. And since its so easy to make (and cheap), I don't cringe when he gets frosting all over. :)
