Homemade Kindle Cover

I have been planning on making a cover for my Kindle for about a month, but just hadn't gotten around to it (might have something to do with my 7 weeks of Christmas Crafts).  Today Jon was home so that gave me some Addy free time to work on it.

I STRUGGLE with sewing.  This time my biggest issue was cutting the pieces to the right size.  I was using a tutorial that was designed for a different version of Kindle so I had to ajdust the measurements and ended up getting the main pieces right on my THIRD try.  ugh.  Thankfully I had enough fabric.

Also I need to practice sewing in a straight line.  I'm not sure if I will ever perfect it.

Here is my finished product:
It's actually a velcro closure but the fabric covered button is for looks of course.  I am super happy with it because it has batting in it that actually protects it really well.  It also fits snuggly so if I throw it in my purse nothing should weasel it's way in between the Kindle and the cover.

The inside has three pockets, and the kindle is held in place by elastic.  I already had the yellow fabric, fabric button and thread - so my total cost for this project was about $5, but I have a whole lot of leftover batting and velcro.

The tutorial I followed is located here.

But here are the dimensions I used for the pieces to have the cover fit my Kindle Touch

Pieces 1 & 2: 12x8.5 inches
Piece 3: 13x9.5 inches
Piece 4: 8.5x6 inches
Piece 5: 7.5x6 inches
Piece 6: 6.5x 6 inches
Pieces 7 & 8: 2.5x5 inches
Piece 9: 3.5x6 inches

The pieces are explained well in the tutorial!
