The Cadillac of Carseats is on sale at Amazon right now.  I have a dear friend who is the queen of everything carseat and safety and she is a self proclaimed Britax snob.  The awesome thing about this carseat is it takes your from newborn to 70lbs. 

If I had one "purchasing regret" of becoming a mommy it was the stupid stroller/carseat combo we bought.  I know it probably is the best for some, but I found I rarely took the carrier out of the car because I liked holding sweet baby rather than lugging that enormous carrier around.  Also the stroller is just not suitable for our wonderful valley sidewalks ;)

Buy the Expensive BOB stroller (used if you can) and buy the expensive carseat to begin with!

PS. Some people LOVE their carrier carseats at least at the beginning but we were ready to graduate to a bigger one at 6 month and just installed our new one today.
